More and more personalities are jumping on the eSports wagon. On the last weeks several different famous people are announcing their new venture into eSports. This time, DJ Steve Aoki invests in Team Rogue as announced on TwitchCon.
On both the Overwatch and the CS:GO Team Rogue, Aoki will be involved in management and brand development. DJ Steve Aoki invests in Team Rogue after he recently let everyone know about his passion for videogames. He streams from time to time on Twitch and have also appeared in other people streams.
Team Rogue’s fast growth
Frank Villarreal, Team Rogue’s CEO says that he is very happy to be working with Aoki. He considers him to have a genuine excitement for the esports community. Team Rogue Overwatch showed a good performance in the Overwatch Open, getting to the 2nd European spot, losing to Misfits.
Villarreal also said that the organization is growing to the point where they needed a new partner. And they are glad that they could find Steve Aoki to join them in their venture. Team Rogue just launched back in May with their European Overwatch Team. On August 17th they also acquired a CS:GO team.
Aoki was invited to perform at TwitchCon this year where he announced his new investment.
The Overwatch and eSports scene in general is quickly evolving. Big investment groups and professional sports teams are looking towards this fairly new and mostly unexploited market to try and grasp the attention of the so called Millennials. Those who are not interested in Basketball or Football anymore, those who are more interested in eSports.
