DreamHack Overwatch Championship with a $50,000 USD prize pool

DreamHack Winter 2016 edition will host the DreamHack Overwatch Championship. Eight teams will compete live onsite and this championship will be featured as one of the main tournaments in DreamHack. DreamHack will be from November 24th to 27th and the tournament will take place on the 25th and 26th of November.

The DreamHack Overwatch Championship is open for everybody who wants to participate. There are 3 ways of securing one of the 8 slots in the tournament:

  • 2 slots contested through an online qualifiers for Europe on October 9th-10th.
  • 2 more slots available for the winners of the North America online qualifiers on October 11th-12th.
  • 4 slots available through a huge BYOC LAN qualifiers on DreamHack on November 24th.

As usual, a twitch channel is going to broadcast in English the Overwatch Championship. Remember the dates, November 25th and 26th to watch all the online action happening at Jönköping, Sweden.

DreamHack Overwatch Championship Format and rules

A $50,000 prize pool distributed between the first 4 places. $30,000 for the 1st place, $10,000 for the 2nd place and $5,000 for the 3rd and 4th place.

Again, 8 teams will compete in this tournament. 2 from EU online qualifiers, 2 from NA online qualifiers and 4 from BYOC qualifiers. A group stage into single-elimination playoffs. All matches are Best of 3 for group stage and Best of 5 for playoffs.

Sign-ups are already open for everyone! So if you want to try and secure a spot for your team go ahead and sign up here for the EU Qualifier and here for the NA qualifier. We are still waiting for more information about the on-site BYOC qualifier but it is likely that it will happen in the morning of November 24th.
