“Overwatch Upgrade” is how they see it. Today, August 20th, FazE eSports announced the acquisition of a new Overwatch team.
The team is composed by:
- Jared “zombs” Gitlin
- Erik “TwoEasy” van Hoorn
- George “ShaDowBurn” Grushcha
- Shane “Rawkus” Flahert
- Russell “FCTFCTN” Campbell
- Viktors “Forsak3n” Bernevs
- Andrew “purposeful” Collett as the Coach
This announce comes after they joined the Overwatch competitive scene on last June. But their first roster did not do so well, getting 9-16th places in frequent tournaments. FaZe Clan is known for their excellent merchandise campaign, and if there is something bad for business, is a losing team.
On their official statement they acknowledge that roster volatility is something likely to happen when venturing into a new eSports. FaZe Clan embraces that and accept the outcome of their first team but also look into the future when picking the new lineup.
They are known for their top level FPS players, starting on the CoD scene and then jumping into CS:GO. They have support from a lot of players so it is only natural that they are able to find a new roster in so little time.
On the other side, TwoEasy also made an statement, this is what he had to say:
“The last 2 months I’ve been trying to build a team that can compete with the top in Overwatch. It hasn’t been easy but I am convinced that with our current roster we have the ability and talent to do so. With that being said we are truly grateful for the opportunity FaZe is giving us and I am sure that with the support of such a reputable organization we can achieve great things together.”
The new team will start competing this weekend, trying to get a spot for the E-LEAGUE Qualifier Playoffs next week. We can only expect good things to come from this team, given the experience of FaZe.
