Immortals enter Overwatch scene with Sodipop
Overwatch is a growing game with many organizations already in eSports and those not in the scene wanting to get in. This is clear to see as organizations continue to pick up teams. The latest example is Immortals. They are an venture capitalist backed organization, and they have acquired Sodipops.
The former Sodipops have been around since the early summer. They consistently played well and are top 10 in North America. They recently placed 5th-8th in the NA Regional for the upcoming Overwatch Open. That placement means they will be playing in the tournament.
According to Immortals the team will be bootcamping at the organization house in Santa Montica. They will have access to a professional manager and performance coach. This will happen before they team plays their first games as Immortals.
They roster currently includes
- Brady “Agilities” Giradi – Flex/DPS
- Athen “Aythen” Zhu – Support
- Christoper “Grimreality” Schaefer – DPS
- Jeremy “Jer” Santacrus – Support/Flex
- George “Hyped” Maganzini – Flex
- David “Nomy” Ramirez – Tank
These players are all coached by Morgan “Kurjun” Daine Pasilis.
There was actually a name change for one of the players. Aythen used to be Hype.
The name change makes sense seeing as his teammate is named Hyped. That would be confusing. The new name suits him as well.
This team looks solid. They have a good lineup and a great organization backing them up. We have seen bootcamping do wonders for teams before a tournament. Therefore, during the Overwatch Open, Immortals will be a team to watch. They will likely not disappoint fans, nor their organization. You would not want to underestimate these guys.
It will be interesting to see how the bootcamp and professionalism influences this team. Hopefully for the better as they have a lot of potential.
