Overwatch Open is finally here! First match starts today.

It’s finally here! The FACEIT Overwatch Open starts today, Wednesday 24th. After 4 exciting weeks of qualifiers, only 16 teams from each region made it to this stage. Starting today, we will see which teams have what it takes to take the next step: The ELEAGUE Finals in Atlanta.

Group A matches will be broadcasted today at 1:30 EST / 18:30 BST. Group stage is going to be full of expectations. There are 3 top teams in both regions in Group A, but only 2 of them will go to Atlanta. From NA, EnVyUs, Splyce and Selfless. And from EU Misfits, Melty and ANOX will compete for one of the two available spots.

Also, Group D is a really interesting group. compLexity, NRG and Method are all good teams. NRG has been bootcamping so it should give them a slight advantage over the others However, compLexity is a really solid team as shown in the Atlantic Showdown and Method can always give us a surprise.

Changes since the groups announcement

Ever since the groups were announced, a few things have changed about the current teams in this stage. Immortals roster was picked up by FaZe Clan. Also, Creation is going to play under Team Dignitas name.

About Northern Gaming spot in Group D NA, apparently the 3 last members are going to hold the spot: NapTime, Mangachu and BreadExpert. The other 3 team members that will join them is still unclear. They would be competing under the name Grouchy Desperados, given the fact that they are not playing under Northern Gaming organization name since yesterday.

Without a doubt the Overwatch Open is the next big event in the Overwatch competitive scene so it is exciting to think about what we will learn as the matches go by. If you want to take a look at the groups you can do so here.
