Publication Of Overwatch’s Graphic Novel Has Been Postponed

Earlier this month, Overwatch planned to launch a graphic novel for its fans around the globe. But heading into this weekend, came a news that the plan has been postponed and Overwatch’s Lead Writer it was who came up with all the explanations and the circumstances that lead to postponement of their very first graphic novel.
Blizzard realised that Overwatch is not very popular and hence decided to drop any additional projects including the graphic novel which would have told the story of Overwatch’s strike force. If you have been following the gaming news for the past one year, you will know that whatever I wrote just a moment ago is not the truth. The actual story was revealed by Mr. Chu, explaining that the game has changed quite in its first year on the market due to which the story of the game has changed as well.

Overwatch’s Graphic Novel

Mr Chu, in the Overwatch blog, gave us a little inside news of the First Strike, which was supposed to be launched sometime this month. He said that the novel was planned to have at least a hundred pages of the story about the first strike team going on a mission for an ostensible organization. Micky Neilson was handed over the scripting works while Ludo Lullabi was doing the artworks.

According to Mr. Chu, the idea to release the graphic novel stimulated at the early stages of game development. Trailers, in-game descriptions and some extra information on Overwatch’s website have been the only sources of information on, now, the World’s best online shooter game. The idea to have a graphic novel was to tell the world about Overwatch through a new medium.

Overwatch’s Graphic Novel

Since its release, Overwatch has spread like a fire in the jungle. Both its roster and the universe has grown in a way that the team itself hadn’t had thought about it. Michael Chu further said that the story of First Strike is still the same (as of its earliest story). But due to the changes made in the game, they now have some more stories to tell you about.

So don’t worry Overwatch fans. Michael Chu has promised that the story will ultimately be revealed, including the new escapades that happened in the Overwatch universe, Chu remained reticent on when the novel will be released and how will the story progress but stated that some more details will be shared soon. So keep your eyes open Overwatch fans.
