ZuppehW joins Ninjas in Pyjamas and helps them qualify for DreamHack

This was kind of an announced roster change. ZuppehW joins Ninjas in Pyjamas after their performance at the Overwatch Open. At that time, he was replacing flex suport Seita since he was not able to attend the event.

On the Overwatch Open, ZuppehW performed well and achieved along with the team a spot in the EU Semi-Finals. Pretty good for such a recent roster change. Now, Seita is out of the team permanently because of personal reasons. He will not be able to play in the LAN events so he decided to leave the team. This means, however, that ZuppeW joins Ninjas in Pyjamas officially now.

They are doing pretty well. Their first official performance was last weekend where they qualified as the first team for DreamHack Winter. ZuppeW was picked up by the team because of his ranked play. He was in the #1 spot in both Season 1 and 2. He also played Ana before she was part of the meta.

As a “normal” player, meaning that he had no prior professional experience, he is performing quite well. The Overwatch Open was his first LAN ever. About his performance at that event he said the following:

It went well for me. I could perform and so on, but of course it was really exciting and there’s was a bit of me being unsure how would it go. Like I got picked up by NiP 6 days before the event and travelling to USA for the first time with new people and having this really well hosted event to play made me a bit nervous as one might suspect.

Even more important, he is going to travel with Ninjas in Pyjamas to attend DreamHack Winter 2016. They won a spot after beating NWA 2-1 and Misfits 3-1. They qualified first among the European teams.

NiP roster after ZuppehW joins Ninjas in Pyjamas

  • Joona “fragi” Laine (Tank)
  • Kalle “hymzi” Honkala (Flex)
  • Lauri “mafu” Rasi (DPS)
  • Joonas “zappis” Alakurtti (DPS)
  • Antti “kyynel” Kinnunen (Support)
  • Aleksi “Zuppehw” Kuntsi (Support)

We should follow this team closely on their next big event: The DreamHack Winter 2016.
